Aylesbury MP David Lidington has been told by the Ministry for Justice that he will have to wait until spring 2013 for further news on the future of Aylesbury Crown Court.
Plans for a new four-courtroom in Walton Street to replace the Market Square building were put on hold after the October 2010 Comprehensive Spending Review and there remains the possibility the existing Crown Court could be updated.
Justice Secretary Chris Grayling wrote to the Europe minister and said that the ministry was ‘continuing to look in detail at its entire estate’. He apologised for not being able to be more specific on the future of Aylesbury’s Crown Court.
Mr Lidington has previously described the current facilities as a ‘judicial slum’ and raised his fears with former Justice Secretary Ken Clarke.
