Chinnor suffered their third straight defeat as they lost a tight contest at Dings Crusaders 39-35.

Despite twice leading, Chinnor could not reverse a run that has seen them lose to Redruth and Hartpury College.

The home side built a 10-0 lead in 12 minutes, following up a penalty with a converted try.

Chinnor scored a penalty moments later, but their hopes were dented in the 21st minute when Sam Stoop was sent to the sin bin and from the resultant scrum Steve Plummer scored to put Dings 15-3 up.

The visitors refused to lie down and on 28 minutes Henry Colver crashed through for Chinnor’s first try, with James Cathcart’s kick reducing the deficit to five.

After another penalty, Tom Gray put Chinnor 18-15 up at half time with a try.

Dings took a 22-18 lead three minutes after the break before Taylor Stevens was yellow carded and Chinnor moved ahead with a penalty and a converted Gray try.

On 66 minutes the momentum swung the other way, with Steve Uren scoring a try which was converted and Dings then hit a penalty to make it 32-28.

The decisive moment came shortly after, when Dings’ Mark Woodrow’s try was converted and despite Chinnor brining the score back to 39-35 with five minutes to go, time ran out for the visitors and they will have to try to stop the rot next time out against high-flying Shelford.
