Aylesbury FC could not quite produce the miraculous comeback they needed when they lost 3-2 against Barton Rovers on Tuesday night, after finding themselves 3-0 down with an hour played.

Aylesbury started well and should have been in front before Barton took the lead against the run of play after 20 minutes.

Barton hard to work their socks off to earn the right to play against FC, who were enjoying all the chances. But when a chance came along it was the hosts who were far more clinical, scoring a second on 42 minutes.

A penalty saw Barton increase their lead to 3-0 on the hour mark before FC pulled one back two minutes later through Wayne O’Sullivan.

Craig Faulconbridge’s men smelled blood and they continued to press with just rewards. Jonathan Constant did well on the left to cross for Brian Haule who made it 3-2, setting up a frenetic last 20 minutes.

The visitors did have chances to equalise but a tireless Barton held on for the win to end FC’s eight-game unbeaten run.
