Police patrols have been stepped up in a Bucks village following a suspicious incident in which two young girls were approached by a man in a car.
The two girls, aged 11 and 12, were walking along Buckingham Road in Steeple Claydon at about 5.10pm yesterday when the man drove up to them.
He spoke briefly to them, but the girls became concerned and later told their parents about the incident.
The car is described as a dark coloured, five-door hatchback, possibly a Renault Clio. The man was white, in his 50s with a bushy white beard, short grey hair and wearing a white or grey T-shirt.
Det Sgt Bob Ducker said: “We are carrying out an investigation to establish the circumstances of the incident and would like to speak to anyone who saw the car in the local area, or who recognises the description of the man. There is no need for residents to be unduly fearful.”
Det Sgt Ducker said the girls were not harmed and asked residents to be vigilant in the way they would normally be.
Call police on 101 with information.
